We offer our mens' Tailored and Classic cuts in sizes 36" to 54", inclusive. In developing our sizes, we haven't taken short-cuts. We have taken care to maintain proportion, adjusting everything necessary– the button spacing, vent length and pocket sizes (alongside the obvious width, length, armhole and collar measurements).

Our size charts set out the measurements of each size and cut, showing the chest, waist and hip measurements and the coats' lengths.

Sizing alterations are possible – and one of the key benefits of making by hand, here.
​
You can add or subtract to or from the length on both cuts. You can narrow the waist on the Tailored cut, and add to it on the Classic Cut. Alterations incur small charges which we pass on at cost.
​
Orders with adjustments from house sizing are non-returnable.
The measurements shown in the charts are the measurements of waistcoats made up in Silk Matka in the sizes and styles indicated and, taken at the points shown on the charts.

When considering the measurements you might need, please bear in mind which outer you are thinking of; thicker textiles will always come up slightly tighter than lighter ones. Please also bear in mind what you are thinking of wearing underneath your waistcoat.
​
While we have based our sizes on A, the Chest, another key measurement for many of us is B. The height at which the B or 'waist' measurement is taken is measured from the neck point indicated; this is the C measurement. To establish where you should be measuring B, measure from the funny dip at the front of your neck, known apparently as the jugular notch of the sternum, the suprasternal or presternal notch, down 'C' cm or inches.
For those whose chests haven't kept up with their waists, we are pleased to offer a solution. When cutting we can added further width below the chest to give a more accommodating B measurement. If you would like extra room at B , please choose 'Custom' in the sizing menu and advise us at checkout what chest size you would like and what 'B' measurement you would like. If you are in doubt how much more you might need, please get in touch.

We can also do in between sizes, and add to the length of any waistcoat. There is an option on the menu for you to advise us of the additional length required.

We charge at cost for all size alterations and will confirm the pricing with you on receipt of your order. Waistcoats with sizing alterations are non-returnable.
classic cut
The Classic Cut is a comfortable, slightly boxy cut that tapers out very slightly from the chest. It is accommodating, particularly for those of sturdier build or more ample girth and is well-suited to wearing over a thicker jumper (your chosen size allowing).

For those whose girths have exceeded their chests in circumference, the Classic Cut is ideal. Advise us on ordering the circumference you would like at the waist (see charts), and we will adapt your cut accordingly.

tailored cut
The Tailored Cut is a more contoured cut that tapers in very slightly from the chest. It is particularly well-suited to those of narrower build and those that like a closer fit.

For those whose like a strong accent on the waist, the Tailored Cut can be nipped in further. Advise us on ordering the circumference you would like at the waist (see charts), and we will adapt your cut accordingly.

– ladies –
We will happily adapt our mens' waistcoats for ladies, but we are also now delighted offer ladies their very own cuts. The Longer Length Cut is more shaped and curvy, the Classic Cut a boxier more athletic sort of affair. The longer length cut has generous vents and buttons that stop at the traditional position – thereby ensuring no ungainly tension over the hips.

With three pockets outside we have chosen not to burden ladies with the additional bulk of inside pockets; if you feel violently in need of an internal pocket, do get in touch.
​
We are starting by offering both cuts in sizes 6 to 16 inclusive, but will add additional sizes on demand – just ask!
